Ezequiel Antonio Castanha was the head of the biggest grileiros gang in the Brazilian Amazon state of Pará. Grileiros are criminals that illegally seize federal land, clear-cut it and sell it to cattle grazers. Castanha’s grileiro was responsible for 20% of all the Amazon deforestation in recent years.
